I recently started to use Mac as my main development machine. I had pretty good workflow established on my Windows machine (with heavy use of their party utilities and system build-ins) that I have hard time recreating on Macs.

This article is a list of tools/utilities to help me create best workflow as possible and to stay productive.

Flux

This is such a no brainer. It helps you adjust color temperature of your screens. Yes OS X has something similar (as well as Windows) but none is as good as flux.

I have it setup so that the blue light is filtered a bit even during a day. Without f.lux my eyes are hurting.

Caffeine

It’s very simple utility that prevents your screen from going to sleep.

Maccy

Clipboard management is very important to me. I need to have a searchable history of my keyboard accessible through very simple keyboard shortcut.

AltTab

This utility brings back the windows style alt tab command. Old habits die quickly and I still using this shortcut to navigate my system.

Rectangle

https://rectangleapp.com/

OS X has terrible window management, you need to resize all the windows manually, it’s pain and it slows you down.

Again there is a lot of tools that can help you with this, but Rectangle is open source and free and absolutely does its job.

I hope you like this list. You can follow me on Twitter to get more content like this.
